Oral Care is much more than Brushing your teeth twice a day.

According to the World Health Organisation, Oral health is a state of being free from any kind of facial pain, cavities, tooth decay, gum decay, oral cancer, and more.

Daily, Indians consume a large number of substances like Tobacco, Alcohol, cigarettes, gutka, paan. These substances have a substantial effect on overall Oral hygiene. According to the research studies, More than 10 million Indians die due to the consumption of tobacco. 

The main oral problems Indians suffer from are

  1. Yellow teeth: Yellow teeth are caused due to the consumption of sugar or caffeine such as tea, coffee, or cold beverages like Pepsi or coke.
  2. Plaque: Plaque is a sticky fill that forms on the teeth when bacteria or germs in the mouth are mixed with sugary or starchy food.
  3. Cavities/ Tooth Decay: Cavities are permanently damaged areas in the hard surface of your teeth that develop into mini holes. Cavities are also known as tooth decay. Basics of Oral Care that you must follow regularly.

  1. Brushing
  • Brushing your teeth twice a day at least once is a must.
  • Use a soft brush.
  • Move the toothbrush gently to every corner of your teeth. Make sure you reach the innermost region of your teeth.
  • DO not harshly move the toothbrush on the teeth.
  • Use a non-paraben, non-sulfate toothpaste.
  • Brush your teeth gently for 8-10min 
  • Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
  1. Tongue Cleaner 
  • Cleaning the tongue is important as bacteria or germs form on it which leads to bad breath and plaque on the tongue.
  • Clean the tongue with a tongue scraper or tongue cleaner.
  • You can also clean it with the back of the brush.
  • A tongue cleaner or designed brushes are available in the market.
  1. Rinsing
  • Rinsing the mouth thoroughly after brushing helps remove the germs and left out food from the mouth, where the toothbrush can’t reach.
  • Rinsing helps eliminate bad breath and freshen up the breath.
  • A wide variety of mouthwashes are available in the market.
  • It is recommended to use mouthwashes that contain fluoride.
  1. Healthy Diet: Eating healthy food is a must for good oral health. 
  • Calcium: Add food to your cart that contains a good level of calcium in it such as dairy products, orange juice, almonds, green leafy vegetables, and more
  • Protein: Protein-rich food like meat, fish, poultry, beans, eggs, and more are excellent for dental health.
  • High-fiber Food: High Fiber food keeps the saliva constantly flowing. Foods that are rich in fiber contain Vitamin A & Vitamin C. High Fiber foods are raisins, bananas, apples, brussels sprouts, and more.
